Private Pay & Investment in Care
Choosing therapy for your child is often both an emotional and financial decision. Many parents wonder whether private pay therapy is the right choice, especially when insurance-based options are available.
At Kiddos Mental Health, services are offered on a private pay basis to allow for a more individualized, flexible, and developmentally focused approach to care.
Why Private Pay?
Insurance-funded therapy can be valuable, but it often comes with structural limitations that influence how care is provided. Private pay allows therapy to be guided primarily by clinical need rather than external requirements.
This can support:
Greater flexibility in treatment planning
More time spent on parent collaboration and education
Individualized pacing based on your child’s development
Continuity of care without insurance-driven disruptions
A focus on long-term growth rather than short-term symptom reduction
Many families find that this approach allows therapy to feel more thoughtful and aligned with their child’s unique needs.
Focus on Depth, Not Volume
Private pay practices are able to maintain smaller caseloads. This supports greater clinical attention, preparation, and coordination when needed.
For children who experience the world intensely or differently, this level of focus can be especially meaningful.
Investment in Development
Therapy is not simply about addressing immediate concerns. It is often an investment in your child’s emotional development, self-understanding, and long-term wellbeing.
Parents frequently seek private pay services when they want:
A specialized approach
Consistent support
Thoughtful parent guidance
Care that prioritizes understanding over quick fixes
Can I Use Insurance Benefits?
While services are private pay, some families choose to submit documentation to their insurance provider for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Coverage varies depending on individual plans.
You may wish to contact your insurance provider to understand:
Out-of-network mental health benefits
Deductible requirements
Reimbursement rates
Documentation needed for claims
Deciding What’s Right for Your Family
There is no single “right” path to therapy. What matters most is finding an approach that feels aligned with your child’s needs and your family’s values.
If you are unsure whether private pay therapy is the right fit, a consultation can help you explore options and make a more informed decision.
